Who Are We? 

Mission

As a non-profit organization rooted in a global movement of university students, UAEM aims to
  • promote access to medicines and medical innovations in low- and middle-income countries by changing norms and practices around academic patenting and licensing
  • ensure that university medical research meets the needs of people worldwide and
  • empower students to respond to the access and innovation crisis.

Universities and publicly funded research institutions will be part of the solution to the access to medicines crisis by promoting medical innovation in the public interest and ensuring that all people regardless of income have access to essential medicines and other health-related technologies.

Our Committees 


ETAF/Covid-19 
  • Working on reforming university licensing policy to better support global health access of drugs and health products developed from university research
  • Working on the Free the Vaccine Campaign - a global movement fighting for a sustainably-priced Covid-19 vaccine accessible around the world

  • Works heavily with policy research and policy-based solutions to combat the increasing prices of insulin and increase insulin affordability
