ETAF - Equitable Technology Access Framework

As many of these life-saving drugs start in campus laboratories with public funds, universities wield substantial leverage when they license their drugs to pharmaceutical companies. The ETAF Committee works to promote the ETAF Framework at the University of Maryland. ETAF serves as a set of guidelines to help universities lay out strategies that allow them to retain as much oversight as possible when considering the accessibility of the end products that come from initial research findings.

FTV - Free the Vaccine Campaign

Free the Vaccine is a a collective of volunteers – artists, health workers, students, activists – from 29 countries around the world fighting for global accessibility to the Covid-19 vaccine. The project is led by two non-profit organizations; UAEM and the Center for Artistic Activism. The UMD Chapter of UAEM works to contribute to the goals of the Free the Vaccine Campaign. We have helped organize and lead various DC rallies urging Biden to support the TRIPS Waiver - an action that would increase vaccine accessibility in middle and low income countries.
